Oklahoma
County’s Truancy Program
THRIVE (Truancy Habits Reduced, Increasing Valuable Education) is
a Youth Cornerstone, Inc. program that addresses the ever growing issue
of truancy among our youth. THRIVE provides front-line intervention,
resources and referrals for truant youth and their families.
More than 8,500 youth have been served since THRIVE began in1989.
OKC Police Department reports a 33% reduction in daytime juvenile crime
since THRIVE began fighting truancy in 1989.
THRIVE Case managers meet with truant youth and parents to
determine and address underlying reasons for school attendance issues.
THRIVE seeks to stop truant youth from dropping out of school and
becoming involved in gangs, substance abuse or criminal activity.
THRIVE implemented the first Truancy Reporting Hotline for OK
County.
THRIVE is a collaborative effort of all OK county schools, law
enforcement and youth service organizations.
